Spain is now a major tourist destination and tourism dominates it's economy. Many of the tourists are now moving away from the coastal resorts and visiting the beautiful and historical cities and towns that Spain has to offer. The national currency in Spain is the euro, but it wasn't until March 2002 that Spain started using the euro as its currency, taking over from the peseta.
